IRVINE, Calif. – After another loaded week of competition in The Big West, the conference announced its swimming Athletes of the Week. Following their first week of competition, UC Santa Barbara Women's Swim athlete,
Samantha Banos was named The Big West Athlete of the Week.
Banos finished first in all eight events she competed in. She helped the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams to first-place finishes. Individually, she finished first in the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, 100 IM and 200 IM. In the 100 IM, she posted a personal best of 58.28.
The Gauchos are back in action this weekend as they head to La Jolla, California, to compete in the UC San Diego Invite. The Invite will run from Friday, Oct. 10 to Saturday, Oct. 11.
