SALEM, Ore. (Oct. 4, 2025) –The UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's Cross Country teams returned to the course for their third meet of the 2025 season, stepping into new territory as they faced off against Pacific Northwest competition in their first out-of-state competition. Building on the success from their last two meets, the Gauchos came fired up and ready to deliver strong showings in the men's 8k and women's 5k at McCulloch Stadium this morning.
In their first big invitational of the season, the Gauchos rose to the challenge in Salem. Both squads exceeded pre-meet projections, with the women's team capturing a first place finish and the men earning a hard-fought third-place finish — both notably battling the regionally ranked Portland team currently sitting inside the top 12 in the West Region.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Zach Parker led the charge for UCSB in the men's 8k, clocking an impressive 23:47.21 to pace the Gauchos to a third-place team finish with 117 points. Close behind, Parker Simmons crossed in 24:05.06, while Conrad Voight followed with a solid 24:41.33. Manny Correia added crucial points for UCSB, running 24:43.28 to earn 32nd overall, and freshman Will Muliken, making his collegiate debut, rounded out the scoring five with a strong 24:58.42 performance.
On the women's side, Addie Oversmith built on the momentum from the 8k to lead the women to victory in a blazing time of 17:12.70 in a fifth place finish. Isabel Ross and Danielle Hollander were able to clutch spots in the top 10, finishing in 17:32.20 and 17:38.30 respectively. In her collegiate debut, Jordan Lieberman was the next Gaucho to cross the line in a 16th place finish with a time of 17:48.60. Axelle Allanic followed closely in 18:04.30, contributing to the women's 68-point first place overall time finish.
Up next, the Gauchos will return to the West Coast to compete in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University on Oct. 18 –their last meet before the Big West Championships. The Gauchos are set to run at Baylands Regional Park, where the men will compete on the 5k course at 8:45 am, with the women set on the 6k course at 9:30 am.
