SALEM, Ore. – UC Santa Barbara senior Zach Parker has been named Big West Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, further cementing his place as one of the conference's top competitors.
Parker placed fifth overall out of 100 finishers at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Oregon, leading the Gauchos to a strong third-place team finish out of 31 programs. A model of consistency, Parker has led UCSB in every race this season, never finishing outside the top five. His dominance and reliability continue to set the tone for the Gauchos as they head toward the Big West Championships.
The Gauchos return to action at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University on Oct. 18 at Baylands Regional Park. The men will race the 8k course at 8:45 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at 9:30 a.m.
