COTO DE CAZA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara Golf team wrapped up at the Orange County Collegiate Classic with a sixth place finish. The Gauchos sat in fourth place entering the final round but a strong push by Gonzaga and Sacramento State pushed UC Santa Barbara to sixth.

"I am super proud of Ryan," said Massoletti. "I saw some good things this week from the guys but unfortunately there is still too many mistakes being made. As a young team we are still learning a lot about ourselves."
HOW IT HAPPENED
At the end of round one the Gauchos were in sixth place with Ryan Gay and Nick Waldock being the two Gauchos under par. Both players shot a one-under, 71. Gay recorded five birdies and four bogeys while Waldock recorded four birdies, one eagle and and five bogeys.
UC Santa Barbara improved their score by four strokes in round two to jump up into fourth following the 36-hole day. Ryan Gay built on a solid round one shooting a three under, 69. He recorded four birdies and one bogey putting him in contention at the top of the leader board going into the final round.Â
Dylan Ma rebounded with a one-over, 73 in round two, including a one-under back nine. Jack Watters showed consistent play throughout the first two rounds finishing day one in a tie for 15th place shooting three over through the first 36 holes.Â
In the final round three Gauchos climbed up the leader board with their scores. Ryan Gay, who shot an even par, 72 and was momentarily in solo first after being three under through his first 11 holes. Jack Watters had a steady day going one over and climbing up into 14th place while Dylan Ma jumped up seven spots after recording a two over.Â

The Gauchos will have two weeks to prepare for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate that will take place in Palm Desert, California from Feb. 24 - 26.
