HOUSTON, Texas – UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's Swim kicked off the day with relay events to open the Big West Championships
HOW IT HAPPENED
Owen Berry,
Jude DiStefano,
Austin Sparrow, and
Mason Wendler won the 800-yard freestyle relay with their time of 6:21.86. Next, the Blue and Gold took a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200-yard medley relay (
Kyle Brill,
Matt Driscoll,
Zachary Tamusaitis, and
Justin Wong swam to 1:24.38) and 800-yard freestyle relay (
Annie Andres,
Samantha Banos,
Hazel Derr, and
Ellie Schomberg clocked a time of 7:14.67).
Kristin Bartlett,
Makena Leacox,
Ashley Ray, and
Miranda Stevenson rounded out the day with bronze in the womens' 200-yard medley relay

The Gauchos will compete in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay for day two of finals, beginning at 4 p.m.
