Men's and Women's Swim Claim Big West Championship

HOUSTON, Texas - The UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's Swim teams have claimed The 2025 Big West Championship. A fourth and final strong day of swimming saw the Gauchos take home both sides championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The final session started with the 1650 Yard Freestyle. On the men's side Taber daCosta claimed first place at The Big West record with a time of 15:03.07. Jack Hendrick placed third for the Gauchos helping extend the Gaucho lead.  The men continued to make waves as Matt Driscoll claimed second place in the 200 Yard Backstroke.

Despite no top three finish through the first few events, Miranda Stevenson ended that streak in the 10 Yard Freestyle with a third place finish. On the men's side, Austin Sparrow claimed second helping to build on their lead.

Kyle Brill continued his dominance in the 200 Yard Breaststroke claiming second place. The Women had a huge swim in the 200 Yard Butterfly with Samantha Banos earning first place with a time of 1:56.73. Sammie Hall came in closely behind in third place with a time of 2:00.02.

The meet concluded with the 4x400 Yard Freestyle Relay and for both sides, the Gauchos came in second solidifying their spot at the top of The Big West.
