BERKELEY, Calif - The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team fell to the Cal Golden Bears on the second day of their Bay Area trip. After initially securing the first point with a gritty doubles victory, the Gauchos would drop in singles for a 6-1 final score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
On court one, the 10th-ranked pair of Amelia Honer and Marie Weissheim left their opponents in the dust with a 6-0 victory to get the Gauchos in the running for the doubles point. On court three, after an initial lead, Ali Benedetto and Emma Tutoveanu would be defeated 6-4. As Lucy Lu and Lily Pradkin got the early lead on court two, the Bears would claw back to force a tiebreak where the Gauchos ultimately came away with the 7-5 tiebreak win and a point for the Blue and Gold.

The doubles point would be the only one of the afternoon for the Gauchos as the following six singles courts would belong to the Bears. The Bears tied it up with a win over No. 14 Amelia Honer in straight sets. Emma Tutoveanu would fight in the second set tiebreak but ultimately fall on court six. The Bears would secure the victory with straight set wins over Raphaelle Leroux and Tyra Richardson on courts five and three, respectively. The last two courts went to the Bears as No. 75 Marie Weissheim fell in the second set tiebreak and Ali Benedetto lost on court four after initially securing a first set win.
