Singles Victories Come Up Short Against No. 28 Pepperdine

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team fell to No. 28 Pepperdine on Thursday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center despite wins in singles by Raphaelle Leroux and Amelia Honer. The 5-2 loss was the first at home this season for the Gauchos.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Waves secured the first point quickly in doubles, controlling both courts two and three over Lucy Lu/Lily Pradkin and Ali Benedetto/Raphaelle Leroux, respectively. After securing the doubles point, court one was left unfinished with Amelia Honer and Marie Weissheim tied up at 4-4. 

In singles, Emma Tutoveanu (6-4, 6-1) and Ali Benedetto (6-2, 6-1) would fall in straight sets to give Pepperdine their next two points. The Waves' final point needed for the win would be secured over Marie Weissheim, 6-2, 6-3, on court two. 

The final three matches saw two wins for the Gauchos. Amelia Honer won on court one and Raphaelle Leroux followed on court six with a dominant 6-3, 6-3 victory. Tyra Richardson battled to force a tiebreak on court three but ultimately dropped the match 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.
