Gauchos Post Strong First Round, Finish 11th

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - The UC Santa Barbara Men's Golf team hit the course for the first time in a month at the Bell Bank "Pay it Forward" Collegiate. The Gauchos placed two student-athletes in the top 40 of the 88 person event. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos opened the first round under par, one of seven teams to do so in the opening round. Dylan Ma and Jack Watters each shot a three-under, 69. The two combined for nine birdies in the opening round. Following the conclusion of round one the Gauchos saw themselves in sixth place.

Round two saw Jay Martinez as the only Gaucho to shoot even par or better as he posted an even par 72 in round two. Dylan Ma and Ryan Gay were close behind with a two-over 74. Following the conclusion of first full day of action the Gauchos were in 10th place.

In round three, Nick Waldock and Jack Watters went under par for the Gauchos with Waldock shooting a two-under 70 and while Watters shot a one-under 71. Waldock jumped up 23 spots in the standings while Watters jumped 10 spots. 

UP NEXT
The Gauchos will travel to University Place, Washington to take part in the Seattle University Invitational. The invite will take place from Monday, March 31 through Tuesday, April 1.
