LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 50 UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team remains undefeated in conference play with a win over No. 68 Long Beach State on Wednesday afternoon at the Rhodes Tennis Center. After initially dropping the doubles point, the Gauchos fought back in singles, ultimately winning five of six courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Amelia Honer and
Lucy Lu earned a swift 6-1 win on court one to put the Gauchos in the running for the doubles point. Long Beach fought back with a 6-3 win over
Ali Benedetto and
Lily Pradkin. On court two,
Marie Weissheim and
Raphaelle Leroux would ultimately fall 6-3 as the Beach got on the board first.
Heading into singles,
Raphaelle Leroux and
Amelia Honer would both earn straight set wins to get the point back and push the Gauchos ahead.
Marie Weissheim battled in the second set on court two winning the match in a tiebreak for the set, 7-4. The Blue and Gold looked for just one more point to clinch the victory and
Katarina Vayser delivered on court five. As her opponent forced a third set, Vayser took control with a 6-3 win to seal the match.
Tyra Richardson and
Emma Tutoveanu both forced a third set against the Beach. In the third position, Richardson dropped the first set in a tiebreak but came back in the second, 6-4, and dominated with a 6-0 third set for Santa Barbara's fifth point. Tutoveanu also fought for a 6-3 second set victory, but ultimately fell in the third set.
