EUGENE, Ore. – The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos will be represented by senior decathlete Brad Thomas at the NCAA Track & Field National Championships this week at the infamous Hayward Track in Eugene, Ore. The four-day meet will begin on Wednesday, June 11 and conclude on Saturday, June 14.
Thomas is slated to take on the Men's Decathlon, where he will compete in a total of ten events amongst the top 48 decathletes in the country. The multis specialist is sitting ranked #2 in the nation after a more-than-impressive performance at the Big West Championships, where he set a meet record, school record, and facility record of 8108 points to secure Big West Athlete of the Meet.
MEET SCHEDULE
The Gaucho will compete for a chance to take home the gold for the blue and gold over the first two days of competition.
On Day 1, Thomas will showcase his skills in the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400m, with the 100m underway at 12 p.m.
The second day will feature the remaining combined events, including the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500m race. The 110m hurdles will begin at 9:45 p.m., with the rest of the events following in that order.
