SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Women's Soccer Team was defeated 2-0 by Weber State on Sunday afternoon. The loss ended the Gauchos nine match unbeaten streak as the Wildcats netted one goal in each half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, Weber controlled the tempo with several offensive opportunities, culminating in a goal in the 27th minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats maintained pressure, with a series of shot attempts including a saved shot in the 30th minute. UC Santa Barbara's
Dakota Watterson registered the Gauchos only shot in the 18th minute. Despite several corner kicks and shots on goal, Weber's lead held at the end of the half.
The second half began with UC Santa Barbara's
Sophia Moness taking an early shot that went wide left just 47 seconds into the final half. Weber responded with multiple shots, though none found the net. Weber increased their lead to 2-0 in the 75
th minute, essentially sealing the victory for the Wildcats. UC Santa Barbara intensified their efforts, with
Haley Phillips forcing a save from Weber State's keeper in the 80
th minute, but could not capitalize on their opportunities, leaving the score unchanged by the final whistle.
