SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball is preparing for a busy week with two Big West match ups ahead. The Gauchos will host Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday, January 15th, before traveling to Hawai'i for a Saturday night game on January 17th.
LAST TIME OUT
UC Santa Barbara enters the week with momentum after earning back-to-back conference wins over CSUN and UC Davis. The Gauchos defeated UC Davis 55-47, led by Zoe Borter's 17-point performance. Júlia Puente-Valverde and Olivia Bradley also made key contributions, each scoring 10 points in the victory.
Borter has been a consistent offensive leader this season, totaling 220 points and averaging 15.7 points per game. UC Santa Barbara will also look for production from Jessica Grant, who has knocked down 38 three-pointers this season while shooting an impressive .500 three-point average.
ROADRUNNER REPORT
Cal State Bakersfield is coming off of a statement win over Long Beach State, defeating The Beach 75-48. Tena Ikidi dominated at the hoop with 11 rebounds, while Chrishawn Coleman led the offensive push with 15 points.
The Roadrunners currently sit 6-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Historically, the Gauchos have had the upper hand in the matchup, holding a 16-5 series advantage. The Gauchos will look to extend that success after earning a 67-47 win in the most recent meeting on December 6, 2025.
LOOKING AT THE RAINBOW WAHINE
Hawai'i enters Saturday's match up following a narrow 50-47 loss to UC Irvine and is currently riding a four-game losing streak. In that contest, Bailey Flavell led the way with 13 points, while Imani Perez added seven rebounds.
The Rainbow Wahine are 6-9 overall on the season, going 0-5 in conference. In the all-time series, UC Santa Barbara trails Hawai'i 10-17, and the Rainbow Wahine claimed the last matchup with a 65-58 win. However, the Gauchos will be looking to flip the script on the road this weekend.
