SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara men's tennis claimed its first weekly conference honor of the season as Lucca Liu was selected as The Big West Player of the Week. The senior turned in a perfect weekend across singles and doubles competition, without dropping a single set in matchups against Pacific and No. 10 UCLA.

Against Pacific, he clinched the doubles point alongside Miguel Avendano with a 7-6(5) victory. Playing at the No. 1 singles position, No. 70 Liu delivered a dominant performance, defeating Terence Das 6-1, 6-0.

Facing a top-10 program, Liu remained unfazed. His doubles match went unfinished after another Gaucho pair secured the doubles point, but the senior quickly made his mark in singles. He earned the Gauchos' second point of the dual with a straight-set victory over No. 53 Rudy Quan, 6-3, 6-4. Santa Barbara went on to secure its third straight win of the season and qualify for the ITA Team Indoor Nationals.

Santa Barbara returns home on Feb. 1 to take on South Florida in its Big Six opener at 12 p.m. The event will include a T-shirt giveaway and food and drinks available for fans.
