TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 31 UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team faced a ranked test against No. 29 Arizona but ultimately fell 4-1 in Saturday's matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Arizona claimed the doubles point in a tightly contested battle that came down to the final court. After Diogo Morais and Lorenzo Brunkow earned a convincing 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, the Wildcats responded with a 6-4 victory on court one before clinching the point at No. 2 doubles with a narrow 7-6(6) win. The deciding tiebreak was equally close, with Arizona edging it 8-6 to secure the early advantage.

In singles play, UC Santa Barbara quickly answered as No. 107 Lucca Liu delivered the Gauchos' lone point of the match with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 54 Alexander Rozin at No. 2 singles. Arizona regained control shortly after, however, with No. 5 Jay Friend defeating No. 34 Dominique Rolland 6-1, 6-1 on court one and No. 88 Filip Gustafsson earning a 6-1, 6-3 win against Miguel Avendano at No. 3 singles.

The Wildcats secured the deciding point at No. 5 singles, where No. 97 Zoran Ludoski defeated Carson Lee 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the 4-1 victory. Matches on courts four and six remained unfinished, with Diogo Morais battling back in the second set and Charlie Underwood locked in a competitive contest when play was halted following the match decision.

Despite the result, the Gauchos continued to compete closely against ranked opposition, highlighted by strong performances throughout the lineup against another top-30 opponent.
