Gauchos Look to Build Momentum in Three-Match Home Stretch

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team will host three teams for a busy weekend slate. Along with their own matches and serving as a neutral site, the Gauchos will open play against Florida State on Feb. 6 at 12 p.m., then split doubles and singles competition against Arizona across Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, before closing the weekend against No. 22 Texas Tech at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos are now 1-0 in the Big West after taking down UC Davis on Jan 31.

After dropping the doubles point, UC Santa Barbara responded with a dominant singles showing, sweeping all six courts to secure a 6-1 victory over UC Davis. Ekua Youri and Isabella Wong highlighted the effort with three-set wins, while Emma Tutoveanu delivered the clinching point at No. 4.

ABOUT THE SEMINOLES
Florida State enters the weekend at 2-2 on the season, matching the Gauchos' record, and comes in following back-to-back losses to nationally ranked No. 4 Auburn and No. 25 UCF. Head coach Jennifer Hyde is in her 22nd season leading the Seminoles and her 26th season overall, joined by associate head coach Mark Ardizzone in his seventh year and first-year assistant coach Vito Tonejc.

No. 82 Amelia Bissett headlines the Seminoles' lineup and will present a strong challenge this weekend. Mary Boyce Deatherage and No. 102 Eva Shaw have also been impressive early, each holding undefeated spring singles records, with Deatherage at 3-0 and Shaw at 2-0.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Arizona enters the tournament with a 4-2 record and travels to Santa Barbara following a doubleheader in which the Wildcats bounced back from a 4-0 loss to SMU with a dominant 7-0 victory over UT Arlington.

Under head coach Ryan Stotland, Arizona has made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and has remained a consistent presence in the national rankings, reaching as high as No. 26 during the 2025 season. The Wildcats have also recorded four seasons with double-digit wins and produced 14 all-conference honorees.

ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
The 22nd nationally ranked Lady Raiders have opened the spring campaign strong, posting a 5-1 record with their lone loss coming against No. 10 Oklahoma State. Texas Tech returns to action after a Sunday doubleheader, edging Oregon 4-3 before sweeping Sam Houston in dominant fashion.

Freshman Kseniia Logvin went 4-0 across matches against Oregon and Sam Houston, earning her first career Big 12 Player of the Week honor. Logvin currently leads the team in overall singles wins with 16 and is tied for the team lead in dual singles victories with five. The Raiders also feature two nationally ranked doubles teams, with Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy ranked No. 62, and Mariia Hlahola and Dmitrichenko ranked No. 83.
