IRVINE, Calif. – Joe Wallace has been recognized as The Big West Defensive Player of the Week for Men's Volleyball. The nod comes after the Gauchos' substantial upset of No. 4 UC Irvine.
Wallace tied his career-high in digs as well as the UC Santa Barbara season high in the Gauchos' win, picking up 15 for three per set.
He also made seven digs in Gauchos' Wednesday match to total 22 for the week and averaged 2.75 per set across nine sets. He also made four assists.
The Gauchos also jumped up three slots in their national ranking this week, moving up from No. 11 to No. 8 for their first top ten spot since 2023.
They will host Cal Lutheran on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. for their next match.
