SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Lucca Liu of the UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team has been named The Big West Player of the Week for the third time this season following his performance in a tight contest against No. 49 Harvard.
Despite narrowly dropping his doubles match with partner
Miguel Avendano, 6-4, Liu responded in singles with a composed performance to secure a key point in the Gauchos' victory over the Crimson. The No. 107-ranked Liu defeated No. 84 Rohan Murali in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, helping UC Santa Barbara close out its final nonconference match with a 4-3 win.
Liu and the Gauchos will look to carry that momentum into Big West play as they open conference competition at Hawai'i tomorrow at 1 p.m. (PT).
