Gauchos Open Home Stretch with Matches Against No. 32 San Diego, Memphis and No. 10 Cal

| By:
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team is set for a busy home slate of matches, beginning with a matchup against No. 32 San Diego on Mar. 8 at the Arnhold Tennis Center. The Gauchos will then return to action the following week when they host Memphis on Mar. 13 before facing another ranked opponent in No. 10 Cal on Mar. 14.

LAST TIME OUT
In their last match of a three-match road trip, the Gauchos swept all six singles matches to take down No. 74 Loyola Marymount 6-1 after dropping the doubles point.

Loyola Marymount secured the early advantage with doubles wins on courts one and three, while the match on court two was left unfinished at 4-4. UC Santa Barbara quickly responded in singles, beginning with dominant straight-set victories from My-Anh Holmes and Caroline Beard, followed by Lily Pradkin's 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 5. The Gauchos completed the comeback sweep behind singles victories from Isabella Wong, Emma Tutoveanu, and Shachf Liebermann to take all six courts.

ABOUT THE TOREROS
No. 32 San Diego enters the matchup with a 5-6 record this spring and, like the Gauchos earlier in the season, recently suffered a loss to No. 15 Washington. The team struggles away from home, currently winless sporting a 0-4 record.

The Toreros are coming off a narrow 4-3 defeat to No. 22 San Diego State in their most recent outing. Despite the close loss, San Diego earned conference recognition as Vilma Krebs Hyllested and Maria Shmakova were named West Coast Conference Doubles Team of the Week, while Shmakova also picked up West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week honors.

ABOUT THE TIGERS
Memphis enters the matchup with a 2–9 record this season, earning its first win of the spring on Feb. 22 before picking up a notable upset over No. 52 Columbia. Despite dropping the doubles point in that match, the Tigers battled back with four gritty singles victories to secure the ranked win. Memphis remains winless on the road at 0–5.

Head coach Hayden Perez, who was named to the position in July 2014, is in his 12th season at the helm of the program. Last year, Perez led the Tigers to six wins in their final nine matches as Memphis captured its second AAC Championship in four seasons. The roster is a young one, made up primarily of sophomores and freshmen, with just one junior and no seniors.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN BEARS
The No. 10 ranked team enters the matchup having dropped just one match during the spring season and has yet to compete in a true road contest, opening the year with wins over top California programs USC and UCLA, both ranked nationally. In Cal's latest result, Anya Murthy secured her first match-clinching victory as a Golden Bear, sealing a 4–1 win over No. 66 Wake Forest at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

The Golden Bears feature a strong singles lineup with four nationally ranked players: No. 11 Berta Passola Folch, No. 55 Johanne Svendsen, No. 57 Mao Mushika, and No. 92 Naomi Xu. Cal also brings two ranked doubles pairings into the match, including No. 66 Mao Mushika/Berta Passola Folch and No. 76 Mao Mushika/Johanne Svendsen.
