LA JOLLA, Calif. – No. 43 UC Santa Barbara delivered a strong road performance Friday afternoon, defeating UC San Diego 5-2 behind a decisive doubles point and steady play across the singles lineup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos wasted no time setting the tone, securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
Ekua Youri and
Caroline Beard dominated their matchup with a 6-0 scoreline, while
My-Anh Holmes and
Raphaelle Leroux followed with a 6-4 victory to give UC Santa Barbara the early edge.
Carrying that momentum into singles, the Blue and Gold built their lead through the middle courts. Holmes turned in a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance on court four, and Beard added another point with a composed 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 to put the Gauchos in control.
After UC San Diego responded with wins at the top two spots,
Lily Pradkin stepped up in a pivotal moment on court three. Dropping the opening set, Pradkin rallied in commanding fashion to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, clinching the match for the Gauchos and sealing the team victory.
Katarina Vayser later wrapped up the final contest of the day, battling to a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) win on court six to cap the 5-2 result.
