ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
The Blue-Green Rivalry carries added significance, as the outcome will determine the regular season champion. Cal Poly sits just behind the Gauchos in the conference standings with a 4-1 Big West record. Overall, the Mustangs are 13-8 and have been notably stronger at home, posting a 7-2 record compared to 2-6 on the road.
Their most recent match marked their only conference loss, a 4-1 decision against UC Irvine. UC Santa Barbara will also be the highest-ranked opponent the Mustangs have faced this spring.
ABOUT THE WAVES
Despite wrapping up their conference slate, the Gauchos are set to face No. 28 Pepperdine to close out the regular season. With UC Santa Barbara set to join the WCC, this meeting offers a glimpse at a future conference matchup. The Waves were undefeated in West Coast Conference play, but their five-match winning streak was recently snapped by No. 16 San Diego.
The Waves hold an identical 7-2 record at home and are 8-7 against ranked opponents this season. Sophomore David Fix earned WCC Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week honors on March 10 and owns an impressive 12-5 record at the No. 6 spot. The brother duo of Edward Winter and Hugh Winter is also one to watch, posting a 7-3 overall record as a doubles pair.
