Men's Volleyball Faces UC San Diego for Final Regular Season Match

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The No. 9 UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball team will be playing their final game of the 2026 regular season against No. 13 UC San Diego on Friday, April 18. The match will be held at the Triton's LionTree Arena at 6:00 p.m. and serve as the second match up between the two teams this season. 

COMING OFF LAST WEEK
The Gauchos played No. 3 Long Beach State, who won both matches in their meetings. Riggs Guy led the weekend in kills with 17 and 2.83 per set, while Cole Schobel led in digs with 11. 

LOOKING AT UC SAN DIEGO
The Tritons are coming off of a 3-1 upset over No. 2 Hawai'i on April 11. After falling 3-0 to the Rainbow Warriors on April 10, the Tritons came back swinging. Sebastien Sani had 18 kills and earned Big West Player of the Week, while opposite Josh Ewert and middle blocker Jim Garrison both had 10 kills.

The Gauchos defeated the Tritons 3-2 on March 6 in a tight duel, beating UC San Diego for the first time since 2024. UC Santa Barbara's George Bruening, who leads the Gauchos with an average of 3.73 kills per set, will be playing against UC San Diego's Sebasiten Sani who has a comparable 3.62 kills per set average. 

Additionally, Riggs Guy leads the Gauchos with a 1.54 digs per set average, while the leading player Luke Chandler leads the Titans with just 0.68 digs per set average. 

FOLLOW ALONG
The match against UC San Diego will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday in La Jolla, Calif. The match will be an away game at the Tritons home court, the Lion Tree Arena.
