Gauchos Return Home for Big West Matchups Against UC San Diego and UC Davis

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Returning from Hawai'i, the Blue and Gold look to make an impact during their homestand, beginning with UC San Diego on Apr. 3 at 12 p.m., followed by UC Davis the next day at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
After dropping a tightly contested doubles point despite a 6-2 win from the No. 35 pair of Miguel Avendano and Lucca Liu on court one, UC Santa Barbara responded with a dominant showing in singles against Hawai'i.

Diogo Morais, Carson Lee, and No. 107 Liu each earned straight-set victories to give the Gauchos control before Matei Gavrea clinched the 4-1 team win with a 6-1, 6-2 result at No. 6. Two additional matches featuring No. 44 Dominique Rolland and Avendano were left unfinished after the decision was secured.

ABOUT THE TRITONS
UC San Diego enters the match 8-11 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Tritons have struggled on the road, holding an 0-8 away record, and are coming off a 7-0 loss to UC Davis in their most recent match.

The 10-player roster includes seven newcomers and three returners. The returning group consists of senior Zach Pellouchoud, who is currently 5-0 on the season, and sophomores David Adamson and Robert Freedman. The squad also features three graduate students, one senior, two sophomores, and four freshmen. Head coach Timmer Willing is in his 14th season leading the program.

ABOUT THE AGGIES
UC Davis enters the week 9-9 overall and 2-1 in Big West play. The Aggies are coming off a narrow 4-3 loss to UC Irvine after opening conference competition with dominant wins over UC Riverside (6-1) and UC San Diego (7-0).

The 2025 roster features an experienced upperclass core led by senior Lucas Bollinger and juniors Eduardo Gonzalez and Kurt Miller. Bollinger has been especially strong at the top of the lineup, posting a 7-1 record at No. 1 singles. Head coach Eric Steidlmayer, like UC San Diego's Timmer Willing, is in his 14th season leading the program.
