SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Competing with a slightly adjusted lineup, the No. 32 UC Santa Barbara Men's Tennis team earned a 4-2 Big West win over UC San Diego on Friday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center. The Gauchos improve to 13-5 overall with the victory, while the Tritons move to 8-12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With a different doubles combination than usual, UC Santa Barbara still found a way to secure the early advantage. Miguel Avendano and Karel Fromel struck first with a decisive 6-2 win on court two, but UC San Diego answered with a narrow 7-6 (7-4) victory on court one over Lucca Liu and Lorenzo Brunkow.

The doubles point came down to court three, where Diogo Morais and Dominique Rolland held their nerve in a tight tiebreak, defeating Oliver Worth and Yaron Guberman 7-6 (7-5) to give the Gauchos the 1-0 lead.

In singles, UC San Diego struck first as Andrew Beceiro earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Matei Gavrea at No. 6 to even the match at 1-1.

The Gauchos quickly responded as Carson Lee restored the lead with a strong 7-5, 6-1 victory over Abhinav Chunduru at No. 4. Shortly after, Rolland added another point at the top of the lineup, defeating Worth 6-2, 7-5 to give UCSB a 3-1 edge.

The Tritons kept the match alive when Yaron Guberman defeated Conrad Brown 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 at No. 5 to make it 3-2.

Morais then clinched the match for UC Santa Barbara at No. 2, grinding out a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win over Prathinav Chunduru to secure the 4-2 team victory. The match at No. 3 between Charlie Underwood and Trevor Nguyen went unfinished following the clinch.
