GOLETA, Calif. (Apr. 29) – With the Big West Championships approaching, the UC Santa Barbara Track and Field team will split competition this weekend between the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford and the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine for one final opportunity to improve conference standings. 

PAYTON JORDAN INVITATIONAL
Competition at Stanford will take place on Friday, at Cobb Track & Angell Field. On the track, Mattheo Lacasia will open the day in the 400m at 3:53 p.m., followed by Matt Staples in the 200m at 5:08 p.m. Svea Wickelgren is set for the 800m at 6:10 p.m., with Noah Gordon following at 6:20 p.m. Zach Parker and Nate Osborn will close out the evening in the 5000m at 8:45 p.m.

In the field events, Natalie Lyons is set for long jump at 3:00 p.m., followed by Kendal Handy in long jump at 5:00 p.m. Sam Agbakoba and Monroe Barnum will compete in the triple jump at 6:00 p.m.

STEVE SCOTT INVITATIONAL
In Irvine, the Gauchos will compete both Friday and Saturday. Layanna Green, Dalila Washington, and Bella Vally will kick off Friday's field events with high jump at 11:00 a.m., followed by Kayla Yap in hammer throw at 12:00 p.m. Later in the afternoon, Sam Polkenhorn, Emmanuel Fitzgerald, and Chris Nora will compete in the hammer throw at 2:30 p.m., while Madison Rust and Amanda Eames start javelin. Hanna Barmettler and Amanda Eames will close out the field in long jump at 4:00 p.m.

On the track, Kenna Bradley will race in the invitational heat of the 800m at 7:29 p.m. Lexi Darley and Conrad Voigt will follow in the 5000m invitational section at 7:50 p.m. and 8:10 p.m., respectively. The night will conclude with Parker Herbert and Will Mulliken competing in the 1500m Invite at 8:47 p.m.

Competition continues Saturday, with Dimitra Vitogiannis and Kayla Yap competing in discus at 11:30 a.m., followed by Nick Tamayo in shot put at 12:00 p.m. Chris Nora returns later in the day for discus at 3:00 p.m.

On the track, the 4×100m team of Avery Groves, Amor Jones, Parker Halgren, and Madison Rust is slotted to compete at 12:30 p.m. Vally and Barmettler will follow in the 100m hurdles at 1:05 p.m., with Pyrce Edwards, Seddy Dumont, and Zach Galvez racing in the 110m hurdles at 1:20 p.m. Briana Bartone and David Slaughter are set for the 100m at 2:10 p.m., and Maya Cordoba will compete in the 400m hurdles at 2:50 p.m. The day will conclude with the 200m at 3:10 p.m., featuring Sean Beihoffer, David Slaughter, Halgren, Bartone, Jones, Rust, and Groves.
