Men's Water Polo Announces 2026 Schedule

| By:
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Men's Water Polo team announced its 2026 schedule on Tuesday, kicking off the final countdown to the fall season. The Gauchos will host five home games, compete in five tournaments and face three qualifiers for last year's NCAA Tournament, presenting a competitive lineup as Santa Barbara looks to build on 2025's campaign that reached The Big West Semifinal.

The first sprint on August 28 will commence the beginning of the fall season, taking place in La Jolla at the Triton Invitational. The tournament will stretch over three days as the Gauchos face a total of six opponents on opening weekend.

Entering September, the Blue and Gold head down to Malibu to take on Biola and Pepperdine in back-to-back games on the 3rd. A quick turnaround next has Santa Barbara competing in the nearby Inland Empire Classic, with matchups on Sept. 4 and 5 in Redlands and Claremont. The action-packed weekend doesn't stop there. The Gauchos will round out their four-day marathon back in the 805 on Sunday, facing both Stanford and Cal Lutheran for their first home games of the season.

Back down in Los Angeles for the following weekend, Santa Barbara will meet the 2025 NCAA Tournament Champions, the Bruins, in a matchup on Sept. 12. After the battle, the Gauchos will take on LMU later in the afternoon to finish off the day.

Moving forward with full momentum, the Blue and Gold will head up north to play in the MPSF Invitational hosted by Stanford, which runs Friday, Sept. 18 through the 20th. UC Santa Barbara will continue on the road for the Air Force Invite in Colorado Springs, another three-day tournament from Sept. 25-27, to wrap up the month.

The Gauchos then travel back to California for the Big West/WCC Clash tournament in San Jose on Oct. 3. The following weekend, Santa Barabara will host their first conference game of the season, against new Big West members California Baptist.

More conference matches are scheduled to follow, with the Gauchos facing the Tritons in La Jolla on Oct. 16, Long Beach State at home on Oct. 24, and finally a game versus UC Irvine on Oct. 30.

Heading into November, the Blue and Gold will challenge NCAA Tournament runners-up USC in a battle back in Santa Barbara before their last matchup of the regular season in an away game against Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 8.

Following two weeks of anticipation and preparation, The Big West Championship will be held in Long Beach from Nov. 20-22.
