STOCKTON, Calif. - Angelisa Cortez scored two goals and assisted on two others and UC Santa Barbara recorded its most goals in nearly 12 years en route to a 6-1 win at Pacific on Sunday afternoon.

The last time the team scored as many as six goals was on Oct. 20, 2002 when it did so in a 6-0 win at Idaho.

The Gauchos didn't waste any time getting on the board as Miranda Cornejo took a pass from Kate Shoemaker and lifted a shot into the left side of the goal just 1:25 into the match.

Cortez made it 2-0 just four minutes later when she scored on a 2-on-1 break, taking a pass from Indiana Mead.

Sara Feder scored at 14:01, taking a pass across the box from Cortez and shoving a shot beyond the outstretched arms of Tigers goalkeeper Melissa Ma. Kelly McGrath didn't take long to give the Gauchos a 4-0 lead, doing so at 15:25 when her shot went off the goal post and bounced in off of Ma.

"We really put it all together today," said UCSB head coach Paul Stumpf. "We had great possession, good defense and we put together the final pass and shot. The final product (a 6-1 win) was exactly what we have hoped for."

UCSB had a four goal first half, equaling its highest output for a game in more than two seasons.

Cortez made it 5-0 at 63:23 when she scored on a breakaway after taking a pass from Dakota Griggs.

Pacific ended the shutout bid by the Gauchos in the 68th minute on a breakaway score by Matti Long. She scored on Jacq Caginia who replaced Beth Ritter in the second half.

The Gauchos capped the scoring in the 70th minute when Makenna Kummer scored off a rebound of a shot by Cristina Polini.

Santa Barbara outshot the Tigers 18-9 and each goalkeeper had three saves. 

UCSB has now won three straight matches and are unbeaten in their last four, improving to 5-3-2 overall. Pacific, a former member of the Big West Conference, fell to 2-7-0.

The Gauchos return action on Sunday, Sept. 28 when they host Duquesne University in a 1:00 p.m. match at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
