INDIAN WELLS, Calif.- The three seed UC Santa Barbara Gauchos started off the Big West Conference Tournament with a 4-0 win over six seed UC Davis Friday.

The Gauchos were able to start off on the right foot this morning in doubles, as Natalie Da Silveira and Priscila Garcia got an 8-3 win at two doubles. Stacy Yam and Jaimee Gilbertson continued their success as a duo as they got the 8-5 win at number three to clinch the doubles point for the Gauchos.

It took the Gauchos just three singles matches to clinch the quarterfinal victory.

Luisa Ortiz Candido was first off for UC Santa Barbara, defeating Kamila Kecki 6-2, 6-1 at the number six position. Yam helped her team out with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number five, and her doubles partner Gilbertson sealed the deal with a three set 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win at the number two spot.

The Gauchos move on to the semifinals tomorrow where they will meet two seed UC Irvine.

UC Irvine was the one of the two Big West losses for the Gauchos, as the Anteaters won 4-1 in Santa Barbara to end the Gauchos' seven match win streak.

The Anteaters defeated Cal State Fullerton 4-1 in their quarterfinal match.
