SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The No. 68 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (4-4) defeated the San Francisco Dons (0-7) by a final score of 6-1 on Sunday.
The Dons defaulted the number three doubles match and number six singles match. Dubavets and her doubles partner Jaimee Gilbertson lost their match on court one by a score of 6-1 to Thyra Taune and Hanna Borjeson, but thanks to the defaulted match on court three and a 6-0 win on court two by Melissa Baker and Stephanie Yamada, the Gauchos went into singles having clinched the doubles point.
The defaulted match on court six automatically put the Gauchos up 2-0 before singles play even began. Dubavets had the only singles loss for the Gauchos as she fell to Andrea Ka 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Adler took down Taune in another tie breaker on court two by a final score of 3-6, 7-5, 13-11.
Atanasson, who played her first match on court three this season, defeated Shanna Dos Santos 6-3, 6-4. Gilbertson also got the job done on court four as she topped Borjeson 6-3, 6-2. Da Silveira continued her success at singles this season as she got the 6-0, 6-0 win over Jiayu Mu on court five.
The Gauchos will hit the road next weekend as they travel to the Hawaii to take on the Univeristy of Hawaii and Oregon. Both matches will be held in Hawaii.
