• The Gaucho Rewind: Gamedays 16 and 17
G16: UCSB 65, UC Irvine 61 - The Gauchos erased a 13-point deficit en route to their first true road win of the season. Walk-on
Mira Shulman kickstarted the comeback in the third quarter, going on a solo 8-2 run to help bring UCSB back within two possessions, and
Ila Lane delivered 17 points and six rebounds in the fourth quarter to give the Gauchos their first win at the Bren Events Center in the past four meetings.
G15: UC Riverside 66, UCSB 61 - An early deficit turned into a deep 18-point hole that the Gauchos nearly managed to dig themselves out of with a late rally, but they fell just short despite cutting the Highlanders' lead to one score several times.
Coco Miller,
Ila Lane,
Tal Sahar, and
Danae Miller combined for 55 of UCSB's 61 points.
• Scouting the Opposition: UC Davis
UC Davis enters the week with a 7-9 overall record and a 2-1 conference mark, good for second in the Big West. After a league-opening 75-70 loss at UC Riverside, the Aggies have rebounded quite nicely with home wins against Hawai'i, 62-49, and Long Beach State, 57-55. Davis is led by Katie Toole's 15.2 points per game and Cierra Hall dominates the board with 6.8 rebounds per game.
• Scouting the Opposition: Cal State Fullerton
The Titans have come down from a high and mighty 2-0 start to the conference season, including a 70-68 overtime win in Santa Barbara, with two-straight losses on the road at CSUN, 63-57 in overtime, and Hawai'i, 79-72. Now, they begin a four-game homestand, with UCSB being the first up. In the first meeting between the two teams, Raina Perez had 23 points on 10-of-26 shooting and Taylor Turney scored 20 points. UCSB outrebounded Fullerton 48-39, but had four more turnovers than the Titans.
