• The Gaucho Rewind: Gamedays 18 and 19
G18: UC Davis 56, UCSB 46 - A third-quarter onslaught from the Aggies nullified a combined 26 points from Coco and
Danae Miller and an 11th double-double from
Ila Lane as the Aggies built on a four-point first quarter lead and turned into a 14-point advantage by the end of the third. An early fightback in the fourth quarter gave UCSB some hope, but it was quickly erased by the Aggies as they dropped the Gauchos to 2-3 in the conference.
G19: UCSB 75, Cal State Fullerton 66 - A 60% showing from the Gauchos in the first quarter propelled them to what was perhaps their most complete performance this season. UCSB never let Fullerton get any closer than within seven as
Danae Miller's team-leading 17 points and
Megan Ormiston's career-high 13 led the Gauchos to the win, Bonnie Henrickson's 400th in her career as a head coach.
• Scouting the Opposition: UC Davis
UC Davis holds a 9-9 record, while sharing the conference lead with a 4-1 mark. Prior to facing UCSB on Saturday, the Aggies will play CSUN on Wednesday night for outright first place in the league. Katie Toole dropped 18 points and added four rebounds the last time UCSB and UC Davis faced each other, while Sage Stobbart nearly recorded a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
• Gauchos in the NCAA rankings
A pair of Gauchos rank in the top 30 in the NCAA across several statistical categories.
Coco Miller has the sixth-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the country with a 3.08 mark.
Ila Lane has the most total rebounds in the country (246), second-highest rebounds per game average (12.9), third highest defensive rebounds per game mark (9.3), tenth-most double-doubles (10), and the 23rd-best field goal percentage (57.3%).
In the game against Pacific on December 5,
Coco Miller's triple with 7:39 left in regulation made her the 27th member of the 1,000-point club in program history in her 102nd career game. She became the first to surpass the mark since both Nicole Nesbit and Melissa Zornig completed the feat in 2014.
• Henrickson Hits 400
With UCSB's 75-66 win at Fullerton on Jan. 25, head coach Bonnie Henrickson earned her 400th career win. Now in her 23rd season, Henrickson has enjoyed a successful career across three different schools and four different conferences.
• Milestone Watch
Coco Miller is four assists away from 300 in her career and six triples away from 200.
Tal Sahar scored her 500th point as a Gaucho in UCSB's loss to UC Riverside and
Ila Lane achieved her 200th rebound of the season in the win at UC Irvine.
• Gauchos in the Big West rankings
UCSB leads the conference in rebounds with 776, averaging 40.84 per game. That gives the Gauchos the top spot over UC Riverside by one rebound. On average, UCSB outrebounds opponents by a +4.89 margin. The Gauchos have the second-best defense in the league, allowing just 61.95 points per game. On the offensive side, Santa Barbara dishes out the third-most assists, averaging 14.53 for a total of 276. That also helps out the assist/turnover ratio, which stands at 0.98 through 19 games.
• A New Start
The Gauchos' 3-3 start to the conference season is the program's best since the 2017-18 season, in which UCSB won its first three on the trot and held a 4-2 mark through the first six games of league play.
• Henrickson Announces Pair of NLI Signings
In November, UCSB head coach Bonnie Henrickson signed two players to National Letters of Intent. Guards
Alyssa Marin, of Camarillo, Calif. and Camarillo High School, and
Anya Choice, of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Cardinal Newman High School, will bring their talents to Santa Barbara next season.
