SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The UCSB men's and women's swim team won two individual championships and added four third-place victories to their tallies on the third day of the MPSF Championships. The men moved up a spot and currently hold third place overall with 403 points. The women remain in fourth place with 350 points.
Highlights of the day were individual MPSF Championships for reigning MPSF Freshman of the Year Dominic Falcon in the 400 IM (3:48.75) and freshman Danielle Carter in the 100 Back (54.54). This marks the second straight year that Falcon has taken the top spot in the 400 IM. Carter's win earned her the eighth best 100 Back time in program history.
Tim Lee, Alec Cullen, and Zach Dietz each contributed third-place finishes, Lee in the 200 Free (1:37.92), Cullen in the 100 Breast (53.59), and Dietz in the 100 Back (48.49). Senior Ryan Levy added a fourth-place finish in the 200 Free (1:38.01).
On the women's side, freshman Katie Nugent provided a third-place finish in the 100 Breast (1:03.37) and junior Sydney Rouse finished fifth in the 200 Free (1:51.67).
Both the men and women finished third in their respective 400 Medley Relay events. The women's squad of Carter, Nugent, Dora Seggelke, and Lexi Fusari finished in 3:44.08 while the men's team of Dietz, Cullen, Colin Casey, and Levy clocked in at 3:16.94.
The MPSF Championships continue Friday at Cal Poly's Anderson Aquatics Center in San Luis Obispo. No fans, parents, or spectators will be permitted. Click here for a schedule of events.
