MALIBU, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team (1-2, 1-0) lost their match against No. 4 Pepperdine 7-0 Friday afternoon in Malibu. The stacked Pepperdine squad consisting of four ranked players took down the Gauchos in both completed doubles competitions as well as in all six of the singles matches.

A bright spot for the Gauchos was freshman Camille Kiss pushing Ashley Lahey, the No. 1 player in the country, to the edge in both sets, with Kiss eventually falling 7-5, 7-5.

The Waves took the doubles point with Jessica Failla and Shiori Fukuda beating Elizaveta Volodko and Lise Sentenac 6-3, while Lahey and Nikki Redelijk took down Shakhnoza Khatamova and Kira Reuter 6-4.

Besides Kiss' matchup with Lahey, none of the singles matchups were particularly close and all were won in straight sets.

The Gauchos return to action for their home opener against USC next Friday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. No spectators will be permitted.
