SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team made quick work of PAC-12 opponent Washington State on Friday afternoon, winning 7-0 at Arnhold Tennis Center. The win is a good start to a busy few days of action for the Gauchos (3-4) who have three matches in four days over the holiday weekend.
How it Happened
- Shakhnoza Khatamova and Elizaveta Volodko kicked off the match with a 6-3 win on doubles court one. The Cougars won the court three matchup, leaving the doubles point up to the result on court two
- Kira Reuter and Amelia Honer secured the doubles point for Santa Barbara, winning 6-3
- UCSB took all six of the singles matchups, beginning with Honer downing Elyse Tse 6-0, 6-2 on court four and Camille Kiss winning her number three matchup against Maxine Murphy 6-4, 6-0
- Up 6-3, 5-3 in set two but trailing 30-0 in the game, Volodko came back to win the game 40-30, securing Santa Barbara's fourth point and clinching the match
- The rest of the singles matchups went to the 10-point tiebreaker. Khatamova won her court one duel 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(6) and Filippa Bruu-Syversen won 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(6) on court five
- The match wrapped up when Priscila Janikian finished off a 7-5, 2-6, 1-0(3) victory on court six
