LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 19 UCLA Friday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. While the Gauchos (1-4) had some chances to put points on the board in singles, the Bruins (2-2) quickly clinched three singles wins before the other matchups were able to be completed.
How it Happened
- In doubles, the Bruins earned 6-1 wins on courts three and one. Kimmi Hance and Sasha Vagramov defeated Gauchos Filippa Bruu-Syversen and Camille Kiss on court three. Ava Catanzarite and Abbey Forbes clinched the doubles point for UCLA with a court one victory over Shakhnoza Khatamova and Elizaveta Volodko
- Gauchos Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter led 4-3 on court two when the doubles portion ended
- The Bruins' top two singles players proved to be a tough matchup for Santa Barbara. No. 68 Forbes took down Khatamova 6-1, 6-0 on court one, while #49 Vagramov got the better of Kiss by a score of 6-3, 6-0 on court two
- UCLA clinched the match when Vanessa Ong completed a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Honer
- Bruu-Syversen was on the verge of securing a point for the Gauchos, leading Catanzarite 6-3, 4-3 when the match ended
- Volodko was engaged in a battle on court three, losing the first set 6-3 but was leading 5-1 in the second set
