Gauchos to Look For
Coming off of the indoor season, the Gaucho women will carry their training into the upcoming meets and the men will be quick to start their first competition.

Sprints

  • Notably, sophomore Mariana Lanz gave impressive performances in the 400 meter dash as well as the triple jump, ranking in the top 50 D1 West Region for her contingent events and opening the opportunity for her to lead the conference. She is seeded high at an 11.94m mark for the triple and is sure to show out at this opener.

  • On the field, junior Morgan Simon set a competitive mark of 3.82m in the pole vault at the women's most recent meet, the Don Kirby Invite, which will put her in good standing this upcoming weekend.

  • Sophomores Matthew Molina and Landon Mispagel will challenge 28 other competitors in the 110m hurdles and are looking to have promising finishing times.

Distance

  • On the distance side, a quartet of women including junior Lauren Gerhart, freshman Ruby Sirota-Foster, and sophomores Isabella Abusaid and Claire Chaves will establish themselves in the 800m and make UCSB one of the most popular teams in this event to increase our odds.

  • Junior Jimmy Chahal enters with a high ranking for this same race with intentions of topping a time of 1:50.76.

  • In the 3000m, sophomore Gus Marshall will pick up where he left off from his cross-country season in a different format.

Relays

  • The team will collaborate in multiple relays, including the 4x100m and two selected teams will be entering the 4x400m finisher for the women. The men will also showcase a 4x400m race on Saturday evening.

UCSB Invite
The Gauchos return home next week to host the annual UCSB Invite. It will be a three-day meet starting Wednesday, March 9th and concluding with a full slate of events on Friday, March 11th.
