WESTWOOD, Calif. (Mar. 28) – The UC Santa Barbara Track and Field team resumed their outdoor season Saturday at the Jim Bush Legends Meet, hosted by UCLA, delivering several standout performances against competition from the Big West, ACC and other top programs.
FRIDAY FIELD
UCSB opened competition in the hammer throw Friday, as Sam Polkenhorn threw 50.87m to place 13th overall, as Cassidy Faulker impressed with a 50.05m performance to place in the top 10.
SATURDAY TRACK
The Gauchos opened up the track events with the 4x100 relays, where the women's squad of Natalie Lyons, Amore Jones, Parker Halgren, and Madison Rust clocked in a 45.97 for a season best. Finn Andrews, David Slaughter, Mac Lamkin, and Denny Dong took sixth for the men's side.
In the short hurdles, Purce Edwards clocked in 14.17 for a third place finish, while Lamkin followed with a personal record of 14.61. Maddie Conte dipped into the 13s to place eighth overall.
Matt Staples crossed the line in 10.57 in the 100m, while Parker Halgren delivered a personal best of 11.93 to move into the UCSB all time top five for the 100m. Halgren later returned in the 200 to run another personal record of 24.61, with Madison Rust following close behind in a personal best of her own.
In the 400m, Denny Dong clocked in a personal best of 48.01, while freshman David Slaughter crossed in 48.68.
Finn Andrews delivered a noteworthy performance in the 400m hurdles, where he placed second overall with a personal best of 50.37, As Lamkin followed in third with 51.27.
In the 800m, freshman Kenna Bradley made her 800 debut in an impressive 2:12.07.
SATURDAY FIELD
Freshman Angie Ayozie delivered a personal best of 46.82m to finish fourth overall in women's discus. Bella Vally also added a personal best in the shot put, with a mark of 12.82 to place in the top 10.
In a standout performance in the women's high jump, Ally Tito soared to clear 4.98m, placing fourth and moving into the number eighth position on the UCSB all time list.
In the pole vault, Ethan Nuttall recorded a personal-best clearance of 4.98m, placing fourth and moving into the number eight position on the UCSB all time list.
For the horizontal jumps, Kennedy Johnson placed fourth in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.27m, while Sam Agbakoba recorded 14.11m in the men's triple jump. Jess Mackenzie added a sixth place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.94m.

Emmanuel Fitzgerald threw 45.75m in the discus with Hudson Shaver close behind at 45.61m. Earlier in the day, Nickolas Tamayo posted a mark of 14.60m in the men's shot put.

The Gauchos will compete next weekend in three different meets, including the Stanford Invite, Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival, and the Triton Invite.
