NCAA West Regionals Preview

On day one of the 2022 Big West Championships on May 13, redshirt senior Nick Randazzo placed first in the men's steeplechase with a time of 8:53.51. It was the third individual gold medal of his track and field career, making it two straight years atop the podium in the steeplechase. Including his contributions to the Gauchos' Big West Cross Country Championship in the fall, it was the fourth conference championship overall that he has won.

Randazzo will be running in the 10k at regionals, the event he won Big West gold in at the 2019 Big West Championships with a time of 30:49.22. At the Stanford Invitational in early April, he finished with a mark of 28:52.01, good for the second-fastest 10k time in program history.

Chase Tarr and Jarett Chinn both finished with silvers at this year's Big West Championships. Tarr posted a 66.63m mark in the javelin and will be competing at regionals for the third time since 2018. Chinn meanwhile ran a 1:49.66 in the 800m and will be running at regionals for the second time in his career.
