Gauchos Ready For Second Leg Of Blue-Green Rivalry

UC Santa Barbara Women's Volleyball will face Cal Poly on Halloween.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Volleyball team (21-3) is back in action for a difficult week of Big West play. On Halloween, the Gauchos will take part in the second leg of the Blue-Green Rivalry as they face the Cal Poly Mustangs. The Gauchos won the last time these two teams played each other in The Thunderdome earlier this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gauchos took on the Cal State Fullerton Titans for their last match of the weekend down in Fullerton. After three sets, the Gauchos came out victorious, sweeping the Titans to improve to 11-1 in Big West play.

MANAGING THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly is coming off two five-set wins this week, taking down Cal State Fullerton on Friday before defeating UC Irvine on Saturday.

Tommi Stockham is coming off a strong week as she earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors. She averaged 4.10 kills per set while hitting at a .322 clip as an outside hitter against the Anteaters and the Titans. She also ranks No. 1 in the conference in service aces, racking up 64 so far this season.

The Mustangs are one of the best teams in The Big West in multiple stat categories, including: team assists, team digs, team kills, team aces and total team attacks.

The outside hitters are the primary offensive weapons for the Mustangs. Stockham and Lizzy Markovska have 306 and 308 kills, respectively, making up over half of the team's 1,165 kills this season.

Emme Bullis has racked up the most assists for Cal Poly, accumulating 681 this season.

The Mustangs are coached by Caroline Walters, who is in sixth season with the program. During that time, she has accumulated a 77-63 overall record.
