SAN DIEGO – Kira Reuter and Amelia Honer of the UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis were the first Gaucho women's tennis student-athletes to make an appearance at the ITA National Fall Championships this past week. The Gaucho doubles team was one of 32 duos to make it to the National Fall Championships. Honer and Reuter opened up their tournament against the 38th-ranked doubles team from Maryland in Mary Brumfield and Selma Cadar. After winning the opening set 6-1, the Gauchos fell in the second set 6-2. A third set tiebreaker played to 10 points fell in favor of Brumfield and Cadar as they topped Honer and Reuter 10-6.

The Gauchos then slid into the consolation bracket and would match up with Eryn Cayetano and Emma Charney from USC. Honer and Reuter had played the doubles team once before but fell in the previous matchup at the ITA All-American Championships. Unfortunately for the Gauchos, would fall again dropping the match in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-4.

The Championship and fall season would end there for the duo. The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team will take the next couple of months to prepare for the fast-approaching spring season.
