LAWRENCE, Kan. (Feb. 17, 2023) — The UC Santa Barbara women's tennis team kicked off their weekend of matches in Kansas on Friday, taking on Texas Tech. Three Gauchos won their opening singles sets in an effort to overcome a 3-0 deficit, but UCSB ultimately fell, 4-0.

 HOW IT HAPPENED 
 With the Gauchos shorthanded, the Raiders won on court three by default in doubles as well as court five and six singles. Texas Tech clinched the doubles point after Valentina Khrebtova and Marta Gonzalez-Ballbe were defeated, 6-2. Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter led their match on court one, 4-3, at the time.Moving on to singles, the Gauchos put on a valiant fight, with Honer, Reuter, and Khrebtova each winning their first sets on the top three singles courts. The Raiders ultimately earned the last point needed on court four to end the match.
