SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Feb. 28, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball team (2-9) are back in action after taking two weeks off. They will return to Rob Gymnasium as they take on the Vanguard University Lions in a non-conference match.

The last time the Gauchos were on the court was in Provo, Utah when UC Santa Barbara faced the BYU Cougars. Despite two tight games with the Cougars, the Gauchos came back to Santa Barbara 0-2, dropping both matches 3-1.

The Gauchos currently rank 12th in the NCAA and No. 1 in The Big West when it comes to digs per set as they average 8.93 a set. Max Gordon helps the team rank highly in this category as he is 23rd in the NCAA as an individual. Along with this, the Gauchos are No. 1 in The Big West and 16th in the NCAA when it comes to team attacks as they average 27.18 a set.

Vanguard comes into this match with a 7-2 record. The NAIA school has played one Division I this season in CSUN as they swept the Matadors on their home court. The Lions are the No. 1 team in the NAIA as they took down top-notch competitors. The only two losses the team currently have are against No. 2 Benedictine Mesa and Concordia Irvine.
