SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (March 13, 2023) — UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball (4-11, 1-2 Big West) will have themselves a busy week, hosting Harvard (6-8, 0-4 Ivy League) on Tuesday and No. 6 UC Irvine (12-6, 2-0 Big West) on Thursday at Rob Gym before traveling Friday to play the Anteaters a second time.
The Gauchos will be looking to bounce back after coming off a tough weekend, dropping two matches to No. 4 ranked Long Beach State. Two Gauchos posted career highs last week, as Owen Birg recorded 25 kills while Jack Walmer reached 58 assists on Friday. UCSB currently tops the Big West and eighth in the NCAA for digs-per-set at 9.25. This feat comes from the efforts of Max Gordon, Ryan Wilcox, and Jack Walmer who all rank top ten i the conference for digs. Walmer is also currently third in the conference with 562 digs (9.53 d/s).
Harvard is currently 6-8 on the season, coming to Santa Barbara on a two-game win streak. UC Irvine is currently 12-6, also on a two-game win streak after sweeping UC San Diego. The Anteaters are second in the Big West for assists-per-set at 11.58 and blocks-per-set at 2.37.
