SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (April 15, 2023) — The UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team tallied their fifth conference win Saturday afternoon, defeating UC Irvine, 5-2, with a strong team performance. The Gauchos are now 5-1 in Big West matches this season, putting them second in the conference standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos dominated the court in both doubles and singles play on Saturday. In doubles, the No. 16 ranked duo of Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter cruised past their opponents for a 6-2 win. After Irvine leveld things with a win on court three, Camille Kiss and Marta Gonzalez Ballbe battled out a huge win in a tie breaker on court two, clinching the point, 7-6.
Carrying the momentum into singles, the Gauchos took four more wins to claim their victory over the Anteaters. On court one, Honer showed why she is the No. 52 player in the country, keeping her opponent scoreless and winning both sets 6-0. Kiss was close behind, winning 6-2 and 6-1 on court two. Reuter clinched the match on court three when her opponent retired, and Gonzalez Ballbe put a bow on the victory on court five, beating her opponent 6-4 and 7-5.
