Kiss Named The Big West Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West announced the winner of its weekly women's tennis award following a weekend full of ranked matches. This week, UC Santa Barbara's Camille Kiss earned her first weekly award of the season and her fourth career after being named The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Although a tough week for the Gauchos, Camille Kiss was a bright spot for the Blue and Gold. The senior earned the Gauchos lone point at No. 3 Stanford after defeating No. 21 ranked Alexandra Yepifanova in three sets. The following day she took No. 51 ranked Ivanov Valentina from Cal to three sets but fell 7-5 in the third.

In doubles, Kiss and her partner Lucy Lu put up a tough fight against the No. 46-ranked duo of Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina, falling 6-4. The pair bounced right back to pick up a competitive 7-6(5) victory over a stellar opponent in Jessica Alsola and Valentina Ivanov.

Kiss is now 6-2 overall in singles competition and 2-1 in doubles while playing with Lu. The Gauchos currently hold a 3-5 overall record and 1-0 Big West record. Santa Barbara is set to wrap up their four-game road trip with No. 8 USC and LMU on March 2 and 3 respectively.
