IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West has announced the men's basketball student-athletes who received All-Big West honors this season. For UC Santa Barbara Men's Basketball,
Ajay Mitchell and
Yohan Traore are two of the ones to make the list.
Ajay Mitchell is one of the best players in The Big West as he garnered All-Big West First Team honors. He finished the season ranked second in The Big West in field goal percentage, third in points per game, and fourth in assists per game. Mitchell averaged 19.4 points, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting at 50.5 percent. He also scored more than 35 points in two games this season, tying the school record for most points scored in a game with 39.
Yohan Traore was also recognized by the conference during his first season in The Big West as he earned All-Big West Honorable Mention recognition. Traore has led the conference in field goal percentage all season long, ending the season with a 58.8 field goal percentage. The sophomore forward is averaging 14.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while starting in all 29 games he appeared in.
The Gauchos still have work to do this season as they head to Henderson, Nevada as the sixth seed for The Big West Championships. They will take on the seventh-seeded CSUN Matadors on Wednesday, March 13 to see who moves on to The Big West Quarterfinals against Hawai'i.
