Golf Concluded Regular Season At El Macero Invitational

UC Santa Barbara Golf finished in 18th place at the El Macero Invitational hosted by UC Davis.

EL MACERO, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Golf team competed in one more tournament before heading to The Big West Championships next week as they took on the El Macero Invitational hosted by UC Davis. It was a tough showing for the Gauchos up north as they finished the tournament in 18th.

The Gauchos improved as the rounds progressed as they battled through all sorts of weather. Day One had some windy conditions that threw off the scores for UC Santa Barbara. Blake McGovern came out with the lowest score of the day at five-over, contributing two birdies in this round. Nick Waldock and Rajvir Bedi had the next best scores as they were one stroke behind McGovern.

The windy conditions turned to rain on Day Two of the El Macero Invitational as the Gauchos got back to work. McGovern shot the lowest round of the tournament for the Blue and Gold as he contributed a 74, which was tied for the 16th-best score of the day. Waldock and Bedi remained consistent in this round as they again went six-over par.

The final day was the lowest team score for the Gauchos throughout the entire tournament. During this round, Brian Arnold and Killian McGinley registered the lowest rounds for the Gauchos as they both went three-over par. McGovern came in close behind those two with a 76. All of McGovern's rounds combined were good enough for 36th out of 104 golfers.

Saint Mary's came out of this tournament in first place as the team went +15 through all three rounds. Enrique Dimayuga of Nevada won his second straight tournament as he went seven-under for all three rounds.

UC Santa Barbara is heading into the postseason as they make the trip to La Quinta, California for The Big West Championships from April 28-30.
