Reuter and Honer Dominate in NCAA Doubles Opening Round

STILLWATER, Okla. - The top pairing for the UC Santa Barbara Women's Tennis team, consisting of Kira Reuter and Amelia Honer danced their way into the Sweet 16 with a dominate victory against the No. 29 ranked doubles pairing from N.C. State.

UC Santa Barbara got out to a quick 2-0 lead in set one but N.C. State fought back and gained a 3-2 lead after winning the next three games. After trading the next two matches the Wolf Pack would hold a narrow 4-3 lead. The Gauchos did not shy away as they won the next three games to win the set 6-4.

That is all the momentum they needed. After losing the opening game in set two the Gauchos rattled off five straight games to take a commanding 5-1 lead. The Wolf Pack were able to cut the deficit by one but the Gauchos quickly shut down any comeback attempt as they won the next game and won the match.

Reuter and Honer now advance to the Round of 16 where they will face the No. 3 ranked Ange Oby Kajura and Anastasiya Komar pairing from host school Oklahoma State. The times for the match have yet to be announced.
