IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced it's weekly winners following week one of the 2025 season. UC Santa Barbara's own
Dominique Rolland earned the weekly honor for the first time in the Blue and Gold.
Rolland won two singles and two doubles matches to earn The Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The 94th-ranked player, according to the ITA defeated Alessio Basile of Oklahoma State 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot, Wednesday. In No. 1 doubles, the 37th-ranked pair of Rolland and
Gianluca Brunkow downed Basile and Matei Onofrei 6-3 en route to defeating the Cowboys 4-3.
Against Nevada, Rolland and Brunkow defeated Lucas Hammond Rayen Hermassi 6-3 in No. 1 doubles. Rolland took care of Paul Theate 6-2, 6-4 in No. 3 singles and helped the Gauchos overcome a doubles point deficit.
Rolland and the Gauchos return to action this Friday, Jan. 24 as they host Texas Tech at 1 p.m. at Arnhold Tennis Center.
