SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Amelia Honer achieved All-American recognition for the second year in a row as the senior made history on the court this season surpassing 100 career singles wins and appearing in the NCAA Individual and Team Tournaments.
The Pennsylvania native earned wins over nationally-ranked singles opponents in the ITA fall tournament slate. She clinched the NCAA Women's Singles Championship spot after winning the ITA Southwest Regional Championship with straight-set wins in six consecutive matches, including the championship victory over the No. 8 player in the ITA rankings.
In the spring, Honer was an unstoppable and reliable force for the Gauchos going 17-2 in singles play at the No. 1 position, helping Santa Barbara to the Big West Regular-Season Title and Tournament Championship. She picked up wins over four nationally-ranked opponents including an impressive victory over the 6th-ranked player out of Stanford in February.
The criteria for earning ITA All-America Singles honors includes finishing in the Top 20 of the Final ITA Singles Rankings released in May, where Honer ranked 15th to end the season. Find the full list of ITA Women's Tennis All-Americans
